Spa and wine trip to Hungary

Active holiday to Hungary with good wine, tasty food, spa and plenty of adventures!

Enjoy some days with fantastic thermal water that is good for both body and soul. Get to know Hungarian wine and food and discover Budapest together with an enthusiasted local guide. Experience a traditional Hungarian day at a horse farm!
Travel to Hungary at the beginning of October when the sun still shines and the weather is pleasant, taste Hungarian wine and typical Hungarian tasty dishes. You can discover local gastronomy secrets and thermal water that is unique in Europe. During the programme you will get to know the old historical town, Eger, that is situated in one of the most well-known wine regions of Hungary, our beautiful capital, Budapest and the popular horse show at a farm – all this together with a guide.

Fishermans bastionThe guide is waiting for the group at the airport. You travel together to Egerszalok which is the first stop. Egerszalok is considered to be „the spa capital” of eastern Hungary and Eger region. Beside the thermal water and the unique salt hill in Europe, Egerszalok is also known for its beautiful nature and the wine regions situated close by. After a 2-hour long driving from the airport, 4-star hotel Saliris Resort & Spa is waiting for you. The guests will spend 3 days there. The spa and wellness department of the hotel gives all kind of possibilities for relaxation and recreation. The hotel has 17 in- and outdoor pools, Finnish, Russia, bio and aroma sauna. The thermal water is rich in minerals. The healing effect of the thermal water has been proved in chemical laboratories and is has positive effect for many illnesses, for example rheumatism.
EgerOn the following day we visit Eger that is situated 15 km from the hotel. Eger is an old town established during the 10th century. It has many beautiful Baroque buildings and a fortress from the 13-14th century. There is also a spectacular telescope there from 1776 and a cathedral. The English speaking guide will show Eger to the guests.
There are more than 200 wine cellars in Eger and around the town. Unfortunately (or fortunately), we can not visit all, but we will go to one for a wine tasting with snacks.
Fishermans bastionOn the next day the group leaves for Budapest. After check-in at Hotel Intercontinental there is a 3-hour sightseeing by bus during which the guide will show you some of the secrets of the city, historical buildings, restaurants and the best cafes. We will also visit one of them, the classic New York cafe where we eat dinner.

If you are in Hungary, it is very popular to watch a horse show. Hungary is well known for its horses and the talented ”cowboys” with their many tricks. On the 4th day we visit a traditional farm with typical Hungarian atmosphere close to Budapest. There we are going to taste the local fruit brandy called ”pálinka” and we learn to cook goulash soup (”shepherd soup”) that is made above open fire and tasty fantastic. While the soup is getting ready, we take part in a horse show presented by the local cowboys. After this we have lunch together.

On the last day you can discover Budapest on your own. In the evening there is a dinner with an exclusive boat tour on the Danube. A 4-course dinner is served with live music in the background and in the meantime you will see the lights of Budapest by night.
